I’m a Program Officer, Contracts Unit, AusAID in Port Moresby. In 2004, I graduated from the Australian National University, Canberra, Australia, with a Masters in Environmental Law. I also have a Degree in Environmental Geology from UPNG.
I hope to one day be in a position where I can contribute to the amendment of the current PNG Environment Act. I think, as it currently is, it does not en- courage and reward environmental best practice. I believe that if the Environment Act provided incentives for sustainable environ- mental practices, rather than just imposing fines, and giving slaps on the wrist to offenders, we would see real progress in a lot of industries whose dealings potentially have adverse effects on the environment.
“I feel I am very fortunate to be a member of the PNG-AAA. I really value the information I get from the association such as information on upcoming seminars, breakfasts, etc. The PNG- AAA provides a great venue and opportunity for professionals to network. I think recipients of Australian Scholarships who are not members of this association are losing out big time and should seriously consider joining”.
